چکیده

On the basis of the observed short coherence lengths in the cuprates we argue that a BCS–Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) crossover approach is an appropriate starting point for correcting the mean field approach of BCS and, thereby, for addressing pseudogap phenomena in these materials. Our version of the BCS-BEC approach is based on a particular Greens’ function decoupling scheme which should be differentiated from others in the literature, and which yields (i) the Leggett crossover ground state (for all coupling constants g, at T = 0) and (ii) BCS theory (for all T ≤ Tc over a range of small g). In this paper we provide a simple physical picture of the pseudogap phase above and below Tc, and review the quantitative and qualitative implications of this theory, which, for the most part have been published in a series of recent papers. cond-mat/0003133

نظریه میدان میانگین برای ابررسانایی مسی دمای بالا

Two decades ago the epoch making discovery of high Tc cuprate superconductivity by Bednorz and Müller shocked the world’s superconductivity community. However, already in 1979 and 1980, the first heavy fermion superconductor CeCu2Si2 and organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6 have been discovered respectively. Also we know now that all these superconductors are unconventional and nodal. Further t...

Evidence for crossover from a Bose-Einstein condensate to a BCS-like superconductor with doping in YBa2Cu3O7−δ from quasiparticle relaxation

Time resolved measurements of quasiparticle (QP) relaxation dynamics on the femtosecond timescale are reported as a function of temperature and doping in YBa2Cu3O7−δ for (0.48 < δ < 0.1). In the underdoped state (δ > 0.15), there is no evidence for any changes in the low-energy gap structure at Tc from either photoinduced QP absorption or QP relaxation time data. In combination with the sum rul...

Origin of the pseudogap phase: Precursor superconductivity versus a competing energy gap scenario

In the last few years evidence has been accumulating that there are a multiplicity of energy scales which characterize superconductivity in the underdoped cuprates. In contrast to the situation in BCS superconductors, the phase coherence temperature Tc is different from the energy gap onset temperature T ∗. In addition, thermodynamic and tunneling spectroscopies have led to the inference that t...

Oxygen Isotope Effects on Tc Related to Polaronic Superconductivity in Underdoped Cuprates

The planar oxygen isotope effect on Tc observed in copper oxide superconductors is remarkable in that it increases from near nil at optimal doping to a value twice that derived from BCS theory in the underdoped region. This behavior is quantitatively followed by a formula proposed by Kresin and Wolf in 1994 for polarons along the c-axis. Herein it is revisited in a more transparent way, and it ...

Phenomenological description of the two energy scales in underdoped cuprate superconductors.

Raman and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments have demonstrated that in superconducting underdoped cuprates nodal and antinodal regions are characterized by two energy scales instead of the one expected in BCS theory. The nodal scale decreases with underdoping while the antinodal one increases. Contrary to the behavior expected for an increasing energy scale, the antinodal Ram...
